What happens if I forget my code?
We provide you with an emergency override code during installation. If you forget your main code, you can use this backup code to start your vehicle and then reset your primary code. The smartphone app also has a PIN reset feature if you have that option enabled. We recommend writing your code down and keeping it somewhere secure (not in your car).
Can thieves detect or remove the Ghost?
No. The Ghost has no physical key fobs, LED indicators, or radio frequency signals that can be detected. It integrates directly with your vehicle's CAN bus system and is completely invisible to diagnostic tools and code readers. Even if a thief knows a Ghost is installed, they have no way to locate or disable it without knowing your unique button sequence.
How long does installation take?
Professional Ghost installation typically takes 3-5 hours depending on your vehicle. We take our time to ensure the system is properly integrated, tested, and completely invisible. Installation includes custom wiring to your vehicle's CAN bus, configuration of your unique code, and comprehensive training on how to use the system.
Will it work with my push-button start?
Yes, absolutely. The Ghost works perfectly with both traditional key ignition and modern push-button start systems. In fact, push-button start vehicles are particularly vulnerable to relay attacks, making the Ghost even more valuable. The button sequence can use any buttons in your vehicle including steering wheel controls, indicator stalks, or dashboard buttons.
What if I need to take my car to a mechanic?
You have several options. You can either tell the mechanic your code, use the smartphone app to create a temporary service mode that allows starting without the code for a set period, or provide them with a valet code. Service mode can be enabled for specific durations (like while your car is being serviced) and then automatically returns to normal security mode.
Is it better than a steering wheel lock?
Much better. Steering wheel locks are visible deterrents that can be cut through in seconds with power tools. The Ghost is invisible, cannot be removed or bypassed, and prevents the engine from even starting. Thieves often target cars with physical locks because they know the car is valuable enough to warrant protection. With Ghost, they don't even know it exists until it's too late.
Do I need to cover my diagnostic/OBD2 port?
No. The Ghost II Immobiliser will digitally block the diagnostic port preventing them from bypassing the security system. Unless you put the car into service mode, which will allow for technicians to scan the car during service.
